Step 2: Preparations - Subscription Form

You are now on step two of creating your own subscription form. If you haven't already read the requirements, we recommend that you first read step one, which you can find here.

PREPARATIONS – DO THIS FIRST:

  1. On your Ungapped account:
    First, create the contact list where contacts will be added when they sign up via your subscription form. You could name it 'subscribers,' for example.

  2. Create three pages on your own website:

    a) A "confirmation" page
    Suggested text:
    "An email has been sent to the email address you provided. Open the email and click on the link to confirm your subscription and email address."

    b) A "success" page
    Suggested text:
    "We have received your email address, and you will receive our next newsletter shortly."

    c) An "error" page
    Suggested text:
    "Oops, something went wrong. Please try again in a little while, or contact our support/customer service."


    You will need the URLs for these three pages.

    Note: If you cannot or do not want to create your own pages, you can instead use Ungapped's standard pages »

  3. Create one (or two) mailings on your Ungapped account:
    a) A "mailing containing a confirmation link"
    (This email is automatically sent to the email address the contact provided. The contact must click on the link in the email to confirm their subscription.)

     

    IMPORTANT

    The button in the confirmation email should be linked as follows: go to the Proceed tab and select the option "Double opt-in":

    b) A "welcome email" ("Great to have you join us! As a small welcome gift, we've attached a discount coupon...")

    Note: The welcome email is not mandatory, but entirely optional.

Note:
These emails must be sent live to a test list (and therefore be found under the Sent tab).
