Custom Sender address

What is a sender/bounce address?

The sender address is the technical sender and the email address that the email appears to have been sent from. This is also where all bounces and "Out of office" replies will be sent.

The sender address is also the bounce address - meaning all "Out of office" emails, such as "I am on vacation" and "I am taking care of a sick child today," will be sent to this inbox. More information here

Default Sender address?

When you create an account in Ungapped, your account automatically receives a Ungapped sender address. example: dittforetag@ungpd.com

If you prefer to send with your own sender address/domain name (company@yourdomain.com), you first need to set up SPF/DKIM/DMARC for the new sender address. These are digital certificates that ensure Ungapped can send on your behalf.

Technical documentation on how to do this and set up these records can be found here: SPF/DKIM/DMARC.

How do I change the sender address?

You cannot change the sender address on your account yourself - we need to do it for you.

Before we can assist you with this, the correct SPF/DKIM/DMARC must be set up for the new sender address. Once that is done, please contact our support via email support@ungapped.com with information about the change, including the new address and account name.

We will then verify that SPF/DKIM/DMARC is correctly set up for the new address. If we receive a confirmation that it is correct, we will change the address on the account and confirm back to you that the change is complete.

If it is not correctly set up, we will inform you of the reason and what action is needed. The old address will remain on your account until you notify us that corrections have been made, and we can perform a new verification.
