Name your custom fields

  • Updated

Each account has a total of 16 fixed fields and 20 custom fields to store data about your contacts.

Fixed fields

Fixed fields are predefined and include, for example:

  • E-mail address

  • First name

  • Last name

  • Mobile number

  • Company name

  • Job title

  • Website

  • Industry

  • Street address

  • Postal code

  • City

  • Region

  • Country

  • State

  • Birthday (date)

  • Gender

These fields are standard and cannot be changed.

Custom fields

In addition to the fixed fields, you can collect more information about your contacts using custom fields.
You can name and use these fields however you want:

  • 10 text fields (max 100 characters)

  • 2 long text fields

  • 2 date fields

  • 6 numeric fields

These custom fields can store any information, such as department, region, customer ID, personal ID number, or points balance. You decide what’s relevant for you and your company.

Name your custom fields to keep your database organized

Always name your custom fields to avoid confusion.
For example, if you import “region” information into field no. 2 but later forget and import it into field no. 4, it can cause problems.
This may lead to errors when inserting custom fields in emails, SMS messages, or surveys, and when searching for specific data in the database.

HOW TO NAME YOUR CUSTOM FIELDS

  1. Log in → click on your Account name at the bottom of the black left-hand menu

  2. Click Account/Account name in the left menu

  3. Select the Settings tab under Account

  4. Click the Custom fields tab on the Settings page

  5. Click the text field(s) you want to name

    • (If you want your contacts to be able to view/edit their information, check “Show in My Settings”)

Usage examples

You can insert custom fields in emails, SMS messages, and as pre-filled fields in the survey tool.
You can also use this data to segment contacts, e.g.:
