Anonymize a contact

  • Updated

If one of your contacts wishes to "be hidden" they should contact you (not Ungapped) to request this.
You then have a certain period to process the request.

  1. Search for the contact in Ungapped.
  2. Open the contact's profile card.
  3. Go to the Consents tab.
  4. Click the Anonymize button.
Note: It takes some time to anonymize all data associated with a contact (custom fields, email open/click/bounce/block data, SMS open/bounce/block data, survey responses, etc.).

What happens if an anonymized contact is re-imported or signs up again for your newsletter?
The contact is "reset." For instance, if a contact was previously blocked, they will now become active again - since the system has "forgotten" that the contact had opted out of future communications.

Anonymization vs. Blocking:
Anonymization: If your goal is to ensure the contact does not receive any future emails/SMS messages, anonymization may not be the best option. An anonymized contact can potentially receive future communications if re-imported or re-subscribed.
Blocking: A blocked contact will not receive any future communications. This is a more reliable option if preventing future emails/SMS messages is your priority.
