Hero image

The hero image is used as:

  1. The background image at the top of the events page.
  2. An image in event emails.

FILTER
On the events landing page, a filter is automatically applied over the hero image, making the image slightly darker (so that the text, button or countdown timer superimposed on the image is more clearly visible).
It is NOT possible to remove or edit this filter.
(No filter is applied over the hero image in the event email.)

SIZE
The event page is often opened by the recipient in full-width mode in a web browser.
The width of the hero image should be at least 1920 pixels to ensure that the image looks sharp on large screens.
Bear in mind that if the hero image is small, it will be stretched, with the risk of the image becoming pixelated.

The height is less important. It is usually between 500 and 800 pixels.
However, when the hero image is used as the background image on the event page, the centre of the image is zoomed in on; so if there is a specific part of the image you want to be visible that is not in the centre, you must first crop the image yourself so that this part is centred.

Avoid portrait orientation for the image – use landscape orientation instead.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD HERO IMAGE?
As the hero image on the events page will serve as a background image with text, a button and a countdown timer superimposed on top, please ensure that there is no text or information within the image itself.
Avoid including faces in the hero image, as the text, button or countdown timer may overlap the face in an unattractive way.
Choose a more neutral subject for the hero image, such as a forest, water, flowers, a field, a building or food.
