Manage duplicates

  1. Go to your account settings
  2. Go to "Data management" in the menu
  3. Click on the "Manage dublicates" tab
  4. Click at the button "I have read the information and want to proceed"

Here you can merge duplicate contacts in Ungapped. Duplicates can occur when you have an integration with an external system, while still adding contacts with for example Excel.

What is a duplicate?

A duplicate means that several contacts have the same email, where atleast one is missing identifier from an external system (i.e. a value in the ExternalId field)

What information will be merged?

  • The oldest contact WITH an ExternalId becomes the TARGET
  • Other contacts WITH an ExternalId are not considered as duplicates and will not be affected by this merge
  • Other contacts WITHOUT an ExternalId are considered duplicateas for this function
  • Interactions (opens, clicks, etc), received mails, received text messages, survey reponses will be moved to the TARGET
  • All unsubscribes are kept, both for contact and categories
  • All information that is stored on the duplicates, but not on the TARGET will be copied over in the order last edited first. If a field is populated on both duplicates but not on the TARGET only the newest will be saved. If a field is populated on the TARGET it will not be replaced.
Risk of information loss Information that only exists in the duplicates contact card will not be copied to the corresponding fields at the TARGET are already populated.
