Run a spam test

  • Updated

We use external services Mailtester and MXTools to perform spam tests

These tools test your newsletter/mail against major spam filters, check your SPF, DKIM, and DMARC setup, and estimate the risk of your e-mail ending up in the recipient’s spam folder.

The score is based on a 10-point scale — the higher, the better.

How to run a spam test using Mailtester

  1. Go to www.mail-tester.com and copy the temporary e-mail address shown in the white box

  2. Go back to your draft in Ungapped and send a test e-mail to that address

  3. Return to Mailtester and click “Then check your score”

✔️ If your score is 7.0 or higher – you're good to go!
⚠️ If your score is below 7.0 – scroll down the report to see what caused point deductions
(Any score 5.0 or lower is considered spam by most filters.)

🆓 You can run up to 3 free spam tests per day via Mailtester.
🔁 For unlimited testing, you can also use this external service: https://mxtoolbox.com/deliverability
